What I’ve Learned at All the Conferences I’ve Ever Attended

There is a big world out there beyond our organizations.

There are so many new colleagues to connect with.

There are many similarities between organizations and industries.

There is so much value in personal connection and conversation.

There is so much anxiety to try bold new approaches.

There is a whole world of people working hard with little or no recognition.

There are opportunities to be brave and try new things if we’ll just take that first step.

There is no shame in reaching out to new colleagues for guidance and support.

There are great lessons to learn, but be wary of the term ‘best practices.’

There are people who should not be in leadership any longer.

There are people who absolutely should be in leadership right now.

There are too many weak sessions on trendy topics (think AI).

There are people who should not present at conferences.

There are people who should always present at conferences.

There aren’t enough conference topics that make attendees feel uncomfortable.

There are conferences that need to reengineer their format.

There are conferences that have figured out the attendee experience beautifully.

What have you learned?

Thanks for being here.
