Power Post - Off The Grid & Need Advice

I'm heading out of the blogosphere for a few days to catch some quality time with the family.  Since I'm spoiled rotten living here, I'm taking full advantage of all that the Florida Gulf Coast has to offer.

OK...I'm actually already going through social media withdrawal just thinking about it, so expect me to be tweeting, checking-in, and hitting my facebook account too. As a relative newbie to the social media scene, I'm wondering if any of you have some advice on how to effectively manage my passion for social media, and the obvious need to take a break, recharge, and come back next week going full speed?  Is it a bad thing if I truly enjoy tweeting from the beach?

I'd REALLY love to hear from you.

No Excuses.

  2. Jay - I think balance is a myth in our world. It's not a matter of disconnecting, it's a matter of connecting when it's a "good time." Your family will be there a lot longer than the things we do on-line. I find myself paying attention to an inanimate object more than the phenonmenal wife and kids I have. I'm looking for ways to be timely on-line without taking away from them - ever.

  3. Dude, enjoy the time with your family, you deserve it. We will survive without you somehow.

  4. Dave - Word. You nailed it.

Steve - Agree with you 100%...I'm blessed with not only a great family, but one that will also be working their social networks the whole time too! I'll make sure to keep the balance...thanks for the reminder!

  5. Jay - I have the same problem here in the panhandle, and I am guilty of tweeting from the beach as well. I think it's a matter of knowing when it's ok, and when it's time to put it down. Do your SM while the wife is napping or reading a book and the kiddos are building sand castles. Put it down when she wants a listening ear and the kids want dad to body surf with them. :) Hope you enjoy your time away.

  6. Thanks Beth...I'm going to follow your plan. Balance is key in everything...fortunately we're all so connected that we've been getting betting at knowing when to "log off" and when to all be on FB together!
