Attention HR: You Can Hire Using Social...I Did

Social recruiting works. Let me say it again HR...social recruiting works. Three weeks ago I wrote a blog post about my need to fill a recruiter vacancy. I went through my "new" normal routine of using twitter, facebook, our HR web site and Linkedin to spread the word.

Bang! The job was filled less than two weeks later.

No journals, no newspapers, no magazines, no old-school personnel strategies...just social.

Welcome Michelle!
Please welcome Michelle Nelson to All Children's Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine. Michelle comes to us with an incredible track record of success recruiting registered nurses and other healthcare professionals for many years in the Tampa Bay area. She is a Linkedin power user and is jumping into the twitterverse too.

We're so glad you're here Michelle!

I'd love to hear from you.

No Excuses.

  2. Jay - congratulations to you and Michelle! That's a great success story. I plan to use the social outlets to hire in the very near future. What's one (or two or ten!) thing you will do differently the next time you hire?

    1. Thanks Tessa. Our team has put a lot of effort into a streamlined process that pulls all of our social channels (twitter, linkedin, facebook, pinterest, and youtube) into our new HR web site. We're now working out a balance between appropriate use of old-school print (when necessary) and a heavy emphasis on social and web. Good luck!

  3. Jay-
This does not surprise me. You and your team do such a great job promoting your community as a place to live and your hospital as a place to work. I keep showing the Facebook posts to my wife saying "We should visit Tampa!"
Congratulations to your team and to Michelle
